How to use a bedside commode

Using a bedside commode involves a few simple steps. Here's a guide:

Positioning: Place the bedside commode next to the bed within easy reach of the person using it. Make sure it is stable and on a level surface.

Adjust Height (if applicable): If the bedside commode has adjustable legs, adjust the height to a comfortable level for the user. The user's feet should rest flat on the floor when seated.

Prepare: Ensure the commode bucket is clean and properly positioned beneath the seat. If using a disposable liner, place it in the bucket.

Assist the User: If the person using the commode needs assistance, help them transfer from the bed to the commode seat safely. This may involve using a transfer belt or assisting with balance.
